Medical tourists from Europe favour Turkey

Turkey flights

The General Manager from a health organisation in Ankara has reported that the European medical tourism is starting to be directed in Turkey’s direction. In a press release, Ali Takut, the General Manager of health in everywhere confirmed that Turkey has many cities offering medical tourism to foreigners such as those in Ankara, Antalya, and Istanbul.

Consumer choice

The consumer can choose the most suitable health service that they require on the website. Takut went on to say that the website also provides information on other services offered by the top health institutions in Turkey. In addition to this, the organisation can provide additional support such as accommodation, interpretation, or airport transfers.

Medical tourism Global Market

Annually, the medical tourism global market has risen to 100 billion USD with the average consumer spending an average of 10,000 USD per person. The services on offer are dental health, thermal spas, hair transplantation, and aesthetic surgeries.

On top of the rich culture and heritage that Turkey offers tourists, Turkey has also emerged at the front with regards to medical tourism, as Turkish prices are very competitive, and they have a substantial success rate with operations. Currently, Turkey is providing medical services to approximately 1.2 million tourists from Europe.

Where are the visitors from?

Most of the tourists choose Turkey for dental health, heart surgery, oncology, hair transplantation, vitro fertilisation, and aesthetic surgeries. Yakut confirmed that the number of visitors from Britain for medical reasons has been increasing every year. In 2010, there were just a few thousand visitors from the UK, but this number now tops tens of thousands annually.

Yakut went onto say that: "Turkey is one of the top ten countries where British citizens get medical treatment. With the pandemic nearing the end and Turkey's growing medical infrastructure and success in hotels and hospitality, its ranking will change in a short period of time. Turkey's target is making it to the top five. With the platform, we want to increase the medical tourism potential between the two countries."

Yakut also noted that doctors from both Ireland and the UK arrived in Turkey this March for some medical training from Turkish doctors.
