Renting a villa in Turkey is becoming more popular amongst both foreign and domestic tourists, as this offers an isolated holiday experience throughout the Coronavirus outbreak.
Social distancing has become a common aspect of people’s lives and has had a huge impact on holiday preferences during 2020. Tourists have been looking for a safe holiday and are choosing to book a villa rather than staying in busy hotels. Because of this, the villa tourism industry has been propelled to new heights.
from January through to November 2020, the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya in Turkey welcomed 3.5 million foreign tourists and was the most popular choice of destination for those travelling to Turkey.
The Antalya province is one of the most important destinations for holiday makers and therefore it was no surprise to find that it took top spot in terms of villa tourism. The Kas district was also high on tourist lists, as it offered isolation in the centre of nature.
Riza Percin, from TURSAB (Turkey's travel agencies union) said that Kas was home to 85% of the total villa tourism that took place in Antalya. Percin said that the Mediterranean resort city performed better during the touristic season than expected. He said: “I think we had a good season in terms of villa tourism. We have high expectations for 2021 as there is more prospect of vaccines.”
Initiated by the Culture and Tourist Ministry, Health Ministry, and other related authorities, the healthy tourism certificate programme in Turkey developed a strong trust amongst foreign visitors and was a huge factor that attracted tourists to Antalya, and to Turkey in general.
The owner of a tourism and construction company that provides rental services to approximately 600 villas in the Kas district, commented on how active tourism has been in Antalya from the time that travel restrictions were removed.
The greatest demand for villas, according to experts, was from British tourists followed by visitors from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, and France. An expert said: “The reservations for the 2021 season have started, and we already have high demand. Especially the tourists from England, Germany and other European countries made the reservations for the next season.”
Renting a villa in Turkey prices vary in accordance with the features and whether they are being rented in the summer or winter seasons. Prices of villas vary between 7,000TL and 30,000TL according to the period and qualities that were on offer.
