Antalya hosted 17.3 million tourists in 2024

Data released by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism showed that a record-breaking 17.28 million tourists arrived at Antalya Airport in 2024, up by 8% compared to the previous year.

 

Hopes for 18 million tourists in 2025

Culture and Tourism Minister, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, said: “Our city, one of the most important centres of world tourism, experienced a record year by reaching the highest number of visitors in its history with a total of 17.28 million. This historic success once again demonstrated the international appeal of our city.”

Sector representatives in Antalya stated that this positive momentum is set to continue into 2025 with the city now targeting 18 million visitors for the year. Hakan Saatcioglu, President of the Professional Hotel Managers Association, said: “We had predicted 17 million at the beginning of the season. It is pleasing that so many people came to the city. This year, we will probably see 18.5 million.”

 

Who is visiting Antalya?

According to the data, Russian nationals continued to be the largest group visiting Antalya with 3.9 million arriving in 2024. German nationals accounted for 3.5 million visitors, while visitors from the United Kingdom made up 1.5 million. Other countries where Antalya proved to be an alluring destination included Poland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Czechia, and Lithuania. December 2024 alone saw 318,641 tourists visit the city.

The data also showed that over 1 million Turkish citizens who currently live abroad headed to Antalya at some point through the year, whether to visit loved ones or for vacations back home. This is the first time that number has exceeded 1 million.

 

2025 Tourism City of the Year Award

Known for its stunning blue flag beaches and favourable year round climate, Antalya is one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world, often referred to as the Jewel of the Turkish Riviera. Such is the popularity of the city, that it recently received the “Tourism City of the Year Award” for 2025 from the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
