
Data recently released by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) has shown that during the first seven months of 2025, Turkish Airports have served a total of 135 million passengers on domestic and international flights.
The data shows that from the period of January to July 2025, airports in Turkey served 134.9 million total passengers. This figure is up by 3.8% when it is compared to the same period in 2024.
The figure includes both domestic and international travellers. Of that, international travellers accounted for a total of 78.3 million passengers, which was up by 5.4% year-over-year. Domestic passengers accounted for 56.6 million total people, up by 1.7% when compared to last year.
As expected, Istanbul Airport remains Turkey’s busiest airport and one of the busiest airports in Europe. From the January to July period, Istanbul Airport handled 46.9 million passengers – which was an increase of 2% compared to last year. Of these, 37 million passengers were flying on international routes, while 9.9 million were flying on domestic routes.
Sabiha Gokcen Airport welcomed 26.5 million passengers over the same seven-month period. This was up by 12% when compared to 2024 and included 11.6 million passengers flying on domestic routes and 14.8 million passengers on international routes.
Turkey’s tourism hubs such as Antalya Airport, Bodrum Airport, and Dalaman Airport welcomed 32.8 million passengers to their airports. This included a total of 22.1 million international visitors and 10.6 million domestic tourists.
The data also showed that a total of 1.4 million aircraft movements were recorded in the first seven months of 2025. Of this, 800,000 were domestic and international flights, and 300,000 were recorded as overflights in Turkey. As Turkey continues to set new arrivals records throughout its tourism and hospitality industry, the Turkish government continues to revise targets higher.
