Transport and Infrastructure Minister of Turkey, Abdulkadir Uraloglu has announced that Turkish Airports have welcomed and served more than 30 million total passengers during the first two months of 2025.
According to the data and numbers recently released, Airports in Turkey served a total of 30.4 million travellers during the months of January and February 2025, including international and passengers transiting to another destination.
Of the 30 million total passengers, 16.47 million were international passengers while 13.98 million were passengers travelling on domestic flights. This marked an increase of 3.6 percent when compared to the same two months in 2024.
Landing and taking off at Turkish Airports, known as aircraft traffic, also increased in the first two months of the year – reaching a total of 130,862 domestic flights and 108,690 international flights. According to the Minister, total aircraft traffic and overnight flights reached 323,986.
Cargo traffic in Turkey also saw a significant increase. Uraloglu reported that cargo traffic at Turkish Airports reached 694,727 tons – 565,843 tons arriving on international flights and 128,727 tons travelling on domestic flights.
Uraloglu said that Istanbul Airport continued to be the most popular airport in Turkey, serving a total of 12.1 million passengers during the months of January of February 2025. Of this, 9.8 million were international passengers and 2.3 million people were domestic passengers.
Other major airports in Turkey such as Antalya Airport and Dalaman Airport saw 3.95 million passengers served, including 2.43 million domestic travellers and 1.53 million international travellers.
After a record-breaking tourism year in 2024 in terms of total traveller numbers and revenue obtained, the Turkish government has revised 2025 targets higher as it looks to break new records once again.
