Ryanair, the popular low-cost airline, has announced that it will launch new direct flights to Turkey from London Stansted Airport. The new flights will start from December 1, 2024 and will be available to two Turkish destinations – Bodrum Airport and Dalaman Airport, providing cheaper and easier access to Turkey for British tourists.
Ryanair first started flying to Turkey in 2018 with routes available from Bratislava and Dublin. The announcement of the new direct routes will give British holidaymakers more opportunities to enjoy vacations in Bodrum, known as the St. Tropez of Turkey, and Dalaman, which serves several hugely popular destinations including Fethiye, Gocek, and more.
The airline announced that direct flights to Bodrum will depart from Stansted Airport at 6:45am and reach Turkey at 12:35pm local time. The returning flights will leave from Bodrum at 13:35pm local time and arrive to the UK at 14:40pm. Flights times of the Dalaman route are yet to be released.
According to information released by Ryanair, a one-way ticket from London to Bodrum will be available from as little as £29.99 for those who book in advance, and the first flight is scheduled to leave the UK on December 1, 2024.
Originally founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1985, Ryanair has grown exponentially over the last ten years to become one of the most-travelled airlines across Europe. After taking over the company in 1994, Michael O’Leary started offering low-cost flights, a move which saw Ryanair’s annual passenger numbers increase from 700,000 to around 50 million.
Today, Ryanair has more than 550 aircraft in its fleet and travels to more than 35 countries and 235 airports throughout Europe – amounting to more than 3,600 daily flights. The airline recently ordered 364 Boeing 737s and has long-term goals to increase annual passenger numbers to more than 250 million.
