Turkish Cargo, a subsidiary of the national carrier of Turkish Airlines has delivered a grand total of 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to over 35 countries around the world, with more than 250 flights operating since the pandemic first hit.

Although the airline sector has massively shrunk during the COVID outbreak as lockdowns forced people to stay home, the global air cargo carrier has undertaken the vital and important task of delivering the vaccines to those in need.
Turkish Cargo built a worldwide corridor that included over 400 destinations. Amongst these key destinations are Azerbaijan, Serbia, Copenhagen, Rome, Mexico, Turkey, Sao Paulo, and Miami. The CEO of Turkish Airlines, Ilker Ayci said in an interview: “As the pandemic poses an unprecedented threat to human health, our Turkish Cargo brand has a significant advantage when it comes to combating this threat.” Ayci stressed that thanks to the international air bridges that Turkey has, Turkish Cargo can carry vaccines to more than 100 different countries.

Ayci also said that: “With its successful operations, we boosted our global market share to 7.5% in pharmaceutical transportation and became one of the most active carriers in vaccine transportation.”

An expert said that Turkish Cargo have made the most of its capacity of cold air depots due to their priority being medical transportation throughout the COVID pandemic, and this is why they also expanded its passive and active container capacity.
