Reservations begin for Turkey's Eastern Express for December

The Turkish Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has recently announced an exciting news for train enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The "Touristic Eastern Express" on the Ankara-Kars route, which is considered one of the most breathtaking train routes in the world, will now be available three times a week starting from December.

This picturesque journey of approximately 1,300km showcases the natural beauty of the Turkish countryside in all its grandeur. Abdulkadir Uraloglu, the Transport and Infrastructure Minister explained that: “This season, there will be a total of 84 trips with the express.”

According to Uraloglu, the Eastern Express is a unique and exceptional holiday experience that transports passengers of all ages to a world of unparalleled beauty and wonder. The train journey is particularly popular among young people, nature enthusiasts, and groups looking to capture the natural beauty of Turkey through their lenses.

He further said: “It will depart Ankara on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and Kars on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Touristic Eastern Express will make a total of 84 trips this season, 42 in the Ankara-Kars direction and 42 in the Kars-Ankara direction.”


Large capacity and sleeping cars

The train promises to provide a luxurious and comfortable travel experience for passengers, thanks to its eight sleeping cars and one dining car. The sleeping cars will be equipped with cosy beds and clean linens, ensuring a good night's sleep for passengers. The dining car will offer delicious meals, with a variety of options to choose from.

With a total capacity of 160 people, the train is perfect for medium-sized groups and families. Six of the eight sleeping cars will be sold through travel agencies, making it easy for travellers to purchase tickets. The remaining two sleeping cars will be sold by the Turkish State Railways.
