20% increase in passengers for Turkish Airlines over 8 month period

According to recent reports, Turkish Airlines, the official national flag carrier of Turkey, has experienced a remarkable 20% increase in passenger numbers for the first eight months of 2023.

During this period, the company served a total of 56 million passengers, a significant improvement from the 46.7 million passengers served during the same period last year.

Tremendous growth in the tourism field

What's more, there has been a noteworthy 34% increase in the number of international-to-international passengers, with figures rising from 14.7 million to 19.7 million, which is a tremendous growth in this specific sector.

The carrier's Passenger Load Factor (PLF) has also seen a considerable improvement, increasing by a remarkable four percentage points to 82.9%. The international and domestic flights recorded a PLF of 82.6% and 84.6%, respectively.

Efficient management and optimal utilisation

These figures are a testament to the airline's efficient management and optimal utilisation of its resources. However, the cargo or mail traffic has reduced by 6.9%, causing some concern and requiring further investigation.

In August, Turkish Airlines carried 8.7 million passengers, marking an increase of 11% year-over-year and demonstrating sustained growth. Furthermore, the airline transferred 146,900 tons of cargo or mail during this month, displaying a strong commitment to meeting its customers' cargo needs.

428 aircrafts and counting

The company currently boasts an impressive fleet of 428 aircraft as of August and continues to expand its reach. The company board has recently approved the acquisition of ten additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which will be delivered in three separate batches between 2025 and 2027.
