Facebook to open a new office in Bursa, Turkey

In a bid to attract young entrepreneurs in Turkey, Facebook have recently announced the opening of a new office in the city of Bursa, Turkey. Facebook is also set to open many other offices in various other Turkish cities with the sole aim of helping the younger generation to develop the skills required to understand and create their own digital businesses across the globe.

Facebook is undoubtedly one of the best-known social media platforms and their aim is to open eight offices in Turkish provinces across the country. The office based in Bursa; the southern Marmara province officially opened its doors on 13 January 2020. The focus of the operation in Bursa is to find the young entrepreneurs already utilising the social media platform and encourage them to take things one step further.


Why did Facebook choose Turkey?

Ozer Math, the Chairman of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and a member on the board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) confirmed that Facebook decided to open new headquarters in seven cities worldwide in 2020, with Bursa being one of them.

The social media giant divulged that they plan to launch eight branches in partnership with the TOBB and Habitat Association. The Habitat Association is an organisation with no government ties that operates in the sustainable development niche. The headquarters of Facebook’s national Turkish operations will be in Istanbul, and from here the joint ventures between the Habitat Association and the TOBB will take shape.


The first Facebook Office in Bursa

The first Facebook office opened its doors in Bursa on 13 January 2020, with the sole focus of providing and assisting young entrepreneurs in learning and practicing new digital opportunities and growth. An expert confirmed that they have signed an agreement with a top university located in Bursa to assist young students in developing their business ideas based on digitalisation projects in Turkey.
